Albany International Folk 'n' Shanty Festival

Past Event

Ahoy! The highly anticipated Albany International Folk ‘n’ Shanty Festival is just around the corner.

On board this year as the festival’s headline act is El Pony Pisador! Hailing from Spain, El Pony Pisador are five lads with a deep passion for maritime songs played with extraordinary instrument skill and exquisite vocals.

Joining this year’s line up from the eastern seaboard is highly esteemed songwriter, Fred Smith (ACT), along with the cheeky and highly entertaining Salty Sirens (QLD).

Along with touring acts, the weekend programme is packed aplenty with musical talent. From folk sessions and concerts to full blown pub shanty singing, the festival continues to celebrate WA’s folk music scene.

From established artists to the emerging and young, there is a place for everyone.

Celebrate the diversity and depth of Albany’s maritime heritage with talks, Tug ‘O’ War, sessions, workshops, family activities and more!

This year’s festival introduces four ‘must-see’ ticketed concerts at Albany Town Hall. We encourage you to book tickets for the Albany Town Hall concerts in advance, as they are already selling fast!

So what are you waiting for? Gather your crew, book your accommodation and we’ll see you in Albany /  Kinjarling September 29th – October 1st 2023.

Albany International Folk ‘n’ Shanty Festival gratefully acknowledges the support of The City of Albany, Bendigo Bank Albany, Southern Ports, and Quality Apartments Banksia Gardens Albany.
