Above the Sea - School Holiday Creative Activities  

July School Holidays at the Vancouver Arts Centre 

The Vancouver Arts Centre large meeting room will be transformed these July school holidays into a creative seaside adventure with “Above the Sea” themed activities and hands-on art making.

Dive into a creative adventure above the sea these school holidays! Young makers can explore the wonders of the coastline through hands-on activities including creating a mini lighthouse, building a cardboard boat, crafting a wooden seafarer, and designing a message in a bottle collage. Inspired by ocean journeys, lighthouses, and life at sea, this fun-filled program encourages imagination, creativity, and storytelling

Storytime of the Sea with Dora at the Vancouver Arts Centre 

July School Holidays at the Vancouver Arts Centre 

Thurs 9 July | 10.30-11.30am 

Set Sail for an adventure inspired by tales from above the sea. From soaring seabirds and drifting clouds to lighthouses, boats and ocean breezes, children will enjoy stories and imagination-filled fun high above the waves. Perfect for curious little adventurers.

After the story, explore the Maritime Exhibition and create your very own lighthouse.

Ages: 3-12
Free but bookings required, as spaces are limited
Children MUST be accompanied by a supervised parent at all times

Term 3: After School Art Classes with Julie Tulip (Ages 6-8) 

Dates: Monday 10, 17, 24 & 31 August 7 and 14 September

Time: 4-6pm

Ages: 6-8

This six-session workshop series is designed to support the creative development of young artists in a structured yet relaxed setting. Across the program, children will be introduced to a variety of materials and techniques, including drawing, painting, and mixed media.

The workshops emphasise the creative process rather than the final outcome. Participants are encouraged to explore, experiment, and develop their ideas freely, fostering confidence, curiosity, and individual expression.

Suitable for all skill levels, these sessions provide a welcoming and supportive environment where children can engage with art at their own pace while building foundational creative skills.

Ticket p/p: $130 for 6 sessions

All materials provided, BYO apron if needed.
