Albany Town Hall
Albany Town Hall is the region’s premier arts presentation venue, featuring quality galleries, a multi-functional flat floor auditorium and artisan retail opportunities to support a range of arts and cultural activities, civic events, performances and exhibitions.
The venue contributes to activation of the CBD, contributing to the growth of economic development and tourism, enhancing liveability and helping build the profile of our region’s people, places and stories.
Extensive construction was carried out to bring new life to this much-loved local icon between October 2019 and November 2020. This has included conservation works, essential safety and structural repairs, upgrades to existing infrastructure and the development of new facilities. This work has restored the Town Hall as the Great Southern’s most significant civic heritage building and a cornerstone of Albany’s cultural identity.
Staffed by the City’s Arts & Culture team, the Town Hall reopened to the public in early December 2020 and has hosted a wide range of community, professional, and touring events. Audience attendance has been strong, with consistent repeat engagement across diverse art forms, mirroring statewide trends that show people not only value arts experiences but connect deeply with them when opportunities exist.
