OUR OBJECTIVES:
Through our Exhibition Program, we aim to:
• Promote and reflect our community’s identity, cultural diversity and heritage.
• Promote inclusivity and contribute to social cohesion.
• Foster innovation, experimentation and imagination.
• Support and promote professional and aspiring Great Southern artists, artisans, designers, makers and performers.
• Foster and support the development of a sustainable, local, cultural and creative economy.
• Support and promote excellence and contemporary artistic practice.
• Reflect on national and global issues.
OUR VENUES:
Albany Town Hall - 217 York St, Albany
In 2021 the Albany Town Hall commenced its first year as the prime visual arts presentation venue in the Great Southern region. The downstairs gallery spaces have programmed a variety of exhibitions catering to a diverse range of our community. Both galleries are temperature and humidity controlled ensuring the highest standards for artwork display. These spaces are co-ordinated by the City of Albany and present a mixed program of exhibitions including:
• Touring contemporary art exhibitions
• City of Albany art collection and curated exhibitions
• Local professional artist exhibitions
• Solo exhibitions by state and national artists
Vancouver Arts Centre- 85 Vancouver Street, Albany
The Vancouver Arts Centre (VAC) has been operational since 1980 as a Community Art Centre and offers four distinct gallery spaces of varying sizes, suitable for both small and large scale exhibitions. Three of the galleries are temperature and humidity controlled ensuring the highest standards for artwork display. The VAC actively supports experimental, new and emerging artists alongside community driven projects. The main gallery is programmed and curated through the annual exhibition callout, while the remaining three galleries are available for individual hire.
