Albany’s iconic Town Hall will come alive when Live @ the Town Hall hosts contemporary artists for a weekend of live entertainment supported by Rio Tinto and the City of Albany.

Taking place on June 24-25, the Town Hall will host six performances including Perth R&B, indie, electric and pop artists, Albany-based youth alternative and rock bands, and theatrical performances.

Perth artist Adrian Dzvuke, whose R&B creations have seen him on stage at major Australian festivals and as a support act for San Cisco and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, will headline the acts on Friday, June 24.

Grace Sanders will also take to the stage with her mix of indie, electric and pop influences to create a unique and alternative contribution to Australia’s underground music scene.

Albany-based youth bands Three Phase and The Sunbaked Dead Collective will each play a 30- minute set to kick off the Friday night concert.

Performances on Saturday, June 25 will commence at 7.45pm with WAM Song of the Year winner Kris Nelson who has been a support act for Josh Pyke, Alex Lloyd and most recently The Rubens.

Then Joel Jackson will bring an intimate evening of rapturous storytelling through song and poetry with an in the round premiere performance of his one-man show The Moth from 8.30pm.

Manager Arts and Culture Paul Nielsen said Live @ the Town Hall is an exciting addition to the Town Hall events calendar.

“This is an event that has been in the pipeline for a while,” he said.

“Unfortunately Covid restrictions coming into place meant we had to postpone this in April but we are thrilled to be able to bring it back as soon as next month.

“Just over a year ago we wouldn’t have been able to consider an event of this scale in the Town Hall. But the restoration works have been a huge success for events and enable the hosting of live entertainment like this weekend of gigs in June.”
